Why did they paint over her? They should've let her to age gracefully.

Haunting photo and sad too, at the time she was parked up qantas was scrapping rolls powered 747's, so no shortage of engines. she was the victim of spare parts shortages and overcapacity.

A visitor from - posted Sat June 12, 2010:
It is a shame i heard someone at qantas forgot to renew the lease for the engines so thats why she got an early retirement

A visitor from Australia posted Sat January 10, 2009:
And she's still waiting :( We all call her Big Blue now and with the Airshow coming up in March, 2009 she'll be hidden in one of the hangars yet again :(

A very sad sight! I flew on this bird back in 1995

Very nice color

What a sad view! When did they retire her? Let's hope one of their A380s/744s will receive the beautiful Nalanji Dreaming c/s.

I remember flying on this plane... never thought id see her like this .. :( she belongs in an art meuseum not a scrap yard...

A visitor from Germany posted Sun August 19, 2007:
What a shame. imagine they send the "Wunala Dreaming" to the scrapman once. unimaginable. it`s not an compensation if they get her very paintjob on other planes.

You`ll be forever in hours hearts.
Rest in Peace in Planes Heaven.

Very sad and very beautiful at the same time. The blue color looks really cool

A visitor from - posted Sat August 18, 2007:
Sad to see this beauty like this! But I'm guessing the Nalanji Dreaming scheme will be painted on one of the new Qantas A380s or 787s! Wouldn't that be a site to behold!

Bird looks like its lined up and ready to go!

A visitor from Australia posted Sat August 18, 2007:
Sad to see a great bird go to the scrap. You can still se some of the art on the doors and windows.

A visitor from Australia posted Sat August 18, 2007:
She was such a beautiful aircraft... shame too see her looking like this

A visitor from United States posted Sat August 18, 2007:
From a distance, this looks like the Southwest Airlines "Canyon Blue" livery applied to a 747!

Nice detail. I especially like the clarity of the wing-to-fuselage fairing... God, that thing's huge!

A visitor from Australia posted Sat August 18, 2007:
Great photo, poor Nalanji....hope she gets better and graces the skies again.

Long live the 747 :D
