Beatiful picture. I just can't understand that United paints some of its 737 in the new colour scheme to get rid of them a bit later. They still have 737 with the old c/s on, strange!

A very sad look. All those L-1011s look airworthy.

I've seen several angles of this same set of Delta L1011's, but I never get tired of it.

A lot of those aircraft are not in line for the knife. They are simply being stored, even the L1011s still appear to be in airworthy condition, because of the fact that they still have the engines and the windows are covered. Usually when airlines leave their titles on aircraft in the desert it means that they are being stored.

How much is the cost of one of those L-1011´s or B767´s ????

There are many developing countries in the world that could really use some of these aircraft! Nice shot!

Those are some planes that we can still use!
The United 737 in old colors can be re-panited with the new livery and Be used.
The United 737 Shuttle can be put in new livery and have shuttle on it!
the Delta L-1011s look really useable!

The United 767 should be scraped and they need to get some more 757 with winglets and new Livery in there fleet.
(I really miss the United shuttle planes.I really liked them :P)

It makes no sense why united would put a brand new livery on their 737 and then scrap it. waste of time and money

As said before, most of the United aircraft could just be in storage.

I hope United is bringing these 737 Classics back into service (I can understand why no one flies the732 anymore, they've done their work). It's such a waste to just paint an airplane and then scrap it.

I think United did this on an emergency basis. They had to rapidly decrease their fleet size, and this was the best way.

Sad, yet amazing. I wonder how this place looks like 30 - 40 years from now filled with all those A380's and Dreamliners...

This is a Beautiful and Sad photograph all in one. It is nice to see so many great aircraft in one place, yet, I know many will not fly again. I know that I have flown in most of those Delta L-1011's in the background. Many great memories in this photo! Cheers!

I think all of the United aircraft are airworthy. The L-1011s are obsolete, inefficient and why would Delta bring them back into service!? I'm afraid I have to say the 727-200s are missing both side-turbines and Pratt and Whitey don't make that turbine anymore......

Not all United aircraft seen here are airworthy. Certainly one of those (in my opinion great looking dark grey) 767-200's is lacking at least its no.1 engine, probably the no.2 as well. Also, those Delta 727's are in fact missing all engines, not just the side ones. What we can see as the typical third 727 engine on top of the fuselage is here just an empty shell, note there is no exhaust visible on any of them!

The 727, such a great airplane, sad to see these old troopers left to die in the desert
