This plane has a couple of original parts according to the friendly owner, and an interesting story. When the Union Jack on British military aircraft was allegedly mistaken for German crosses, the French roundel was adopted. The colours were soon reversed, but this took longer in the Royal Navy and the Scout served in these markings in the Dardanelles in 1916. Amazingly an unsynchronized machine gun was fitted, despite the danger of blowing off one's own propeller!
