The world's oldest airworthy P-40B survived Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 as it was in maintenance hangar undergoing repair. On 24 January 1942 crashed again while on patrol over Koolau Range on Oahu when it spun in and killed the pilot. Wreck recovered between 1985 and 1989, restored in Chino using parts from 39-285, 39-287. Sold to The Fighter Collection at Duxford and registered as G-CDWH. Flies in the same fashion like in the WW2 era - P-40B-CU 41-13297 "white 284" from 6th Pursuit Squadron / 18th Pursuit Group based at Wheeler Field on Oahu.
