Hiller Aviation Museum. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the Douglas DC-3, a large number of this classic bird gathered at Rock Falls airport in Illinois, in preparation of their mass arrival at Airventure in Oshkosh on July 26th. 15 of them can be seen here in this photograph, including 1 of only two remaining fly worthy DC-2's in the world

My grandfather said that these DC-3s were built to last. Considering how they first flew in 1935 and over 400 are still airworthy, that statement is absolutely true.

Nothing beats the good old douglas. No A380 will be loved as much.
