So, how does a DC-3 (or any other taildragger) take off ? After gaining some speed on all 3 wheels, there is enough airflow on the stabiliser to lift the tail (remember this is Annemasse, and when Annemasse...), and the aircraft will roll only on the main gear (thus minimising the drag) until it is fast enough to actually take off.
