This town's unusual name has its origins in a card game played in the 1870s between two ranchers to decide who would get the land in this area. In a game of Seven-Up, one of the players told the other if he could "show low" he'd win the bet. The other player showed the deuce of clubs, winning the land and unwittingly naming the town in the same instant.
