N57LR (cn 87-1002) "Miss Ashley II" in the pits at the 1997 Reno Air Races. Bill Rogers built this Unlimited class racer by combining the fuselage of a P-51 Mustang (built from plans obtained from NASM) with the wings and horizontal tail of a Learjet. The aircraft was powered by a Rolls Royce Griffon with counter rotating propellers, taken from an Avro Shackleton patrol bomber. Miss Ashley II was destroyed in a crash at the Reno Air Races in 1999 and its pilot Gary Levitz was killed.
