First PL4A in Australia, built in 5 years by apprentices at Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC). In March 1976, CAC approved construction of an amateur-built aircraft for training purposes. The PL-4A was selected due to its modern sheetmetal construction & aviation industry-standard drawings. Given CAC model number CA-36 - marked as a "CA-36 Pazmany PL-4A". Regd VH-XAP on 5.9.1983 to CAC. Charles Lambeth piloted its first flight at RAAF Laverton on 9.9.1983. Regd to Ian Mitchell 9.11.85.
