Taken enroute from Fort Collins, CO to Santa Fe, NM climbing up to 13,500 ft to clear La Veta Pass (9,413 ft). The trip over the pass was surprisingly smooth for us, however a pilot who flew the same rounte an hour later reported 1,500 fpm up and downdrafts caused by increasing convective activity (which happens almost every afternoon during the summer in the Rocky Mtns). The storm in the photo is climbing Blanca Pk (14,345 ft).
