This was to be the last flight of Ryan NYP Replica ES-XCL. Soon after departure, the wing folded upwards and the aircraft broke into pieces, 1,000 feet above the end of the runway. This aircraft was a replica in which Charles Lindbergh made his first solo transatlantic crossing from New York to Paris on the 20th/21st May 1927. The Ryan monoplane was named 'Spirit of St Louis' and was to be the star of the air show. The pilot was killed. Our thoughts go to his family.

There is something a little strange or unusual about these shots. It may be the aircraft, its attitude, POV, perspective, wierd arrival/departure or something else out of the ordinary.
