It is perfectly captured, it demonstrates speed and action in an unusual setting for a beautiful glider.

Great photography

Lighting is just right. Smoke trail gives the impression of great speed and makes it look like it had just skimmed the water. Location is most unusual because you don't usually find a sailplane in this environment.

Action, unusual proximity to the surface, proximity to trees, feel of speed.

Glider carrier landing?;) Fantastic 5* shot

A visitor from Thailand posted Thu February 2, 2006:
This is very graceful..captures the essence of flight plus the background of nature's green is good and still water below combines all elements. Serene almost. Good job!

Yeah listen to this guy from Poland. He flies gliders and is in a virtual aerobatic team with me called "RedGuys." Great Picture btw!!! :-) 5 stars

A visitor from Poland posted Sat January 28, 2006:
It IS the water ballast, but it's not used to "keep momentum up". It's used to keep weight/wing area ratio high, to make it flying faster! Trust me, I'm a glider pilot... It has to be dropped before landing, because it's is too heavy to land safely... Some gliders can take a ballast heavier than glider itself!

A visitor from Germany posted Thu January 19, 2006:
Superb picture look how low it flies its a glider plane!!! and the water tank release wow

A visitor from Netherlands posted Wed August 31, 2005:
Its my own glider

A visitor from Korea, Republic Of posted Tue August 30, 2005:
Great shot.
I think the spraying is in fact the water ballast. The glider needed it to keep the momentum up for long distance flying and dump it over board when coming in for landing.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sun August 21, 2005:
Unusual.

A visitor from Finland posted Sat August 20, 2005:
This is my mother country and i though that was different country. There is cool waterspray or something behind the plane. And low gliding is also cool.

A visitor from Sweden posted Fri August 19, 2005:
Great captured. The glider is nicely positioned in the picture. The background with the trees really improves the vision about how low he is. That he is dumping the ballast gives speed to the picture, wich otherwise would have been hard to see.
Great,/Jens
