This replica S27 is on static display in Hall 1 at the FAAM. The S27 was an early British aircraft built by Short Brothers commencing in May 1910 and used by the Royal Navy and Royal Naval Air Service for training the Royal Navy’s first pilots as well as for early naval aviation experiments. The first flight for the type was 4 June 1910 with an Improved S27, used by C.R. Samson to make the first successful take-off from a moving ship on 9 May 1912 (Canon 50D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM)
