The only surviving Spitfire Mk.1 in the world is now resident at Kemble and is seen here making a rather precarious cross-wind landing on its first outing at the Kemble Cotswold Airport Air Day. (Note the angle of the tail wheel). Built by Westlands at Yeovil in 1941, it had a succession of owners after the war and participated in the film The Battle of Britain in 1968. After a full restoration, it took to the air again in 2007. It is owned by Sheringham Aviation.
