This aircraft is the only Spitfire flying in Australia today. Built in ’44 it was shipped to Australia (April ’45), however, this aircraft never saw active service. Restored in ’85 and later acquired by David Lowy (he donated it to Temora Av Museum in 2002). David Lowy asked me to guess where the propeller had been made …. nearly dropped my camera when he said: ‘Germany!’ Apparently a small German company is the only supplier of Spitfire propellers in the world today. Oh… how times change! ;)
