The Vampire Preservation Group’s T.11 is seen here taking off for its display at the 70th anniversary Battle of Britain Air Show at Kemble in the hands of Mark Hooton. Built at Christchurch, it served with 229 OCU Chivenor until 1959, then 8FTS Swinderby until 1961, 5 FTS Oakington in 1961, 3/4 CAACU, then from 1964-9 it was with the Central Air Traffic Control School at Shawbury. After restoration it became the first ex-RAF jet on the civil register in 1980. It is now kept at North Weald.
