PP-VJC (cn 10) Delivered in 1959, this Caravelle is seen just three or four months before being sold abroad. It then travelled to France, Vietnam, Lebanon and Morroco before being donated to the Central African Republic as TL-AAI with whom it ended its days at Paris-Orly. Check out the background, including the Brazilian Air Force Harvards and Dakota. Probably taken in the November.

Excellent picture. When I was a kid, my parents lived in the threshold of runway 34R (changed later to 35R) and going to CGH was one of our Sunday family outings. I still keep strongly in my memory images of the Dart Heralds, DC-3, DC6, Caravelles and other noisy and beautiful aircraft of that time. Sad that they all kind of look the same nowadays...It is really ironic to see VRG and Panair in the same picture, knowing the turbulent history of both airlines. Thanks!

The photo is simply excellent because of the whole history it covers, starting with another SE210 (Panair do Brasil's PP-PDX) right next to RG's PP-VJC, a Panair do Brasil DC-8 51 (PP-PDS) right behind and a RG 1049 Super G Constellation on the far left. Its registration is unavailable but since the photo shows "tip tanks", the craft can only be one of three delivered in the late '60s, namely PP-VDD, PP-VDE or PP-VDF, in addition to the first three the Company acquired in 1955 (PP-VDA, PP-VDB and PP-VDC), all of which delivered without "tip tanks", the way they remained till getting sold. Unfortunatelly, while taking off from Santo Domingo to Miami for repair and only with the crew, in addition to the engine it already lost while flying in to the island, PP-VDA lost another one and was forced to ditch with loss of the aircraft but no lives! Last but not least, while merging with REAL in '61, RG added another four Super Constellations, this time 1049Hs, namely PP-YSA, PP-YSB, PP-YSC and PP-YSD, all of which delivered with "tip tanks".
Since I was lucky enough to live close to the CGH_Congonhas Airport, which I visited regularly, I had many a chance to also regularly watch those beautiful unforgetable "birds".
