A visitor from Bahamas posted Wed September 3, 2008:
The picture not only captivates the plane but it captivates what a plane can show off at those altitudes. Its also nice because of the fact it looks like he took it at night.so u can definetly catch every part of the contrail. this picture is just awesome. until i saw this picture, i only thought that contrals are only made from the engines, the winglets and the flap vortices. well appearently i was wrong.

Intresting picture but why is the whole plane making contrails because the last time i looked up at a plane the engines where the only pieces of the plane to make contrails.

Interesting photo. i'm a bit curious why all of the engine inlets are exposed when the aircraft is climbing? also interesting is the fact that all of the engines seem to have had exactly the same exposure when the shot was taken! They are identical.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat August 5, 2006:
Catching the moment should be the purpose of any photographer, and this does exactly that. The beauty of the lighting and stark contrast against the sky just makes it that bit extra special. For the Canadian commentator - the rainbow is exactly standard, light reflecting through and from ice crystals (at this altitude) at varying angles, giving us the rainbow. The low pressure areas above the wings and in the vortices at the wingtips cause the spontaneous creation of ice since the pressure drop also drops the temperature. The crud from the engines also spontanously freezes to provide the normal contrailing. Together you get this beautiful effect. Then again, everything looks better from the air. :-)

A visitor from Finland posted Sat August 5, 2006:
Hey hey I want to see this colouful contrail live!
