A visitor from - posted Fri December 24, 2010: The snow between the frames is because that's where the insulation is - so the heat inside doesn't warm the skin there. Where the frame contacts the skin, there's more heat transfered from inside to the skin, so the snow melts. You can sometimes see the same thing happen to the roof of a house if the temps and amount of snow fall are just right.
