Remark Photographer
The incredible Henry Farman (born 1873) was the son of a respected English newspaper correspondant working in Paris. He became one of Europe first, and finest aviators. On 13-Jan-1908 he set out to acheive the largest Archdeacon prize, the so-called 'Grand Prix' of Aviation. The challege was to take off, fly 500 metres then turn and return to the take-off spot, without touching the ground. Farman suceeded and in doing so had flown the longest European flight ever, over 1.5 km in total.
