Wooow | |
The front brakes are really really good ;) Great shot. Very unique sight
Look mom, with the front wheels only!
In Soviet Russia planes fly you .
Lots of flaps, light or no load, some down elevator, and she will float.I used to see kb-29s doing this, landing empty after refueling missions at bergstrom afb texas,1952
Do you think the GPWS calls out "Retard, Retard" for this sorta thing also?
Pictures like this one keeps me visiting this site every day!! :-) ... cheers *****
Dont worry- its Russian!
Aw come on, it's not the time to open up the nose cargo door yet!
Um do some people not learn to either slow down or use less flaps!
When flaring isn't possible...
The nose gear is very strong!
CRAZY landing! | |
Excellent! keep doing that
UNBELIEVABLE!!...The twin nose gear design has paid off!!! ;) Well done Antonov!
Wow a typical Russian landing ;-))
Crosswind on landing? Great shot though.
Landing on the front ? | |
Everythings can be possible for russian ^^"
There's no smoke from the front wheels. That suggests that maybe the aircraft lifted AFTER she (presumably) touched-down properly. Too much speed, too little payload, perhaps? :-)
Flare! Flare!...Oh, never mind...
Never seen before!! | |
Are you sure a proper nose first landing???........AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A monster of an aircraft this, undoubtedly the biggest metal bird thus far and if i m right can carry about 110 tonnes of payload..i ve seen massive trucks unload cargo right inside the aircraft having access through the rear opening...a fabulous machine this...gbala
No pilot would intentionally land an aircraft of this size (or any tricicle gear aircraft for that matter) on the nose gear first, the results would range from simply uncomfortable to a total collapse. Do that even in a Seminole and you're likely to come out minus nose gear and with spinal compressions. This is called wheelbarrowing (for obvious reasons) and can happen if the pilot tries to hold the nose down to long on takeoff or force the plane down at too high a speed on landing. Ask any instructor who taught in C172s!
Oh my nose! | |
Not so scary Landing, It does not seem too dangerorous. Sometimes B52s and McDon Douglas'es do similar landing. Good photo capturing !!
WOW>>> just before the plane touch the land...
I wouldnt like to be on that plane
There is a reason that there is SO MANY gear down the back.....plus the coffee would have gone EVERYWHERE!!
I personally sow the landing, the aircraft bounced back in the air after a normal touch down on the main landing gears than re-landed on the nose-wheel, nothing special, even happens when flying an Airbus, just depends on how lucky you are while flaring.
Beautiful angel the picture was taken out from! Great work!
Good nose wheel landing tec.
I liked the photo because I needed the details of the under carraige for a model I am making of the aircraft thanks
Wow,i always thought about russian pilots that they are unsitasfiedly trained. Here you go!
Other shots confirm that they did touch down nose wheel first. I don't know if the wheel is on the ground in this shot though. Nice picture. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/960242/M/
I checked all the pictures of that landing available and I am sure that's not only an illusion, that was a nose gear landing, with some bounce... Anyone can have bad day, only pilots can do bad landings...
Wow... you got "mooned" by the Antonov! :)
Yes, it's definitely illusion. If you use 'Cross data search' on this page for this plane, this airport and this date - and you will see two other photos of this plane landing. Main gears touched before nose one. But illusion is nice, no objections.
Strong break system, effecting on the nose gear, mostly :)
It's illusion. Nose gears didn't touch yet.
Very unique shot | |
Landing flares are for whimps :)
The pilot name is Valentino Rossi? :-) Great photo!
Positive landing, negative attitude! ;)
Always safety! safety!
Perfect picture.....That's wonderful. But Pilots are the most perfect:-)
ý think it is not dangerious.Because plane is very massive and when landing, nose gear gets some load so prevent more load to main landing gears. But time between nose landing gears touching ground and main landing gears must be very close.
Excellent photo luc, I saw this monster in the summer this year at Dusseldorf international but it wasn't a landing like this one. Great shot really, groetjes uit Holland (greetings from Holland)
I have been made to land not like this oh my nose gear in trouble. Great shot!!!
Well I would say great photo Big Thanks to the Photographer because he waits long time in a cold weather to take a great shot like this. The pilots face a lack of expinance
WOWWOW!! | |
Close up on the wheel illustrating the weird angle is incredible !
Guess his altimeter was screwed up!
Great shot! Don t panic. I think is a rather normal landing in this kind of beasts. The high angle flap capabilities this planes have allows for very low angle-of-attack landings, even a little nose down, too!! Also B52 does similar landings and takeoffs.
Q. What goes BOOM and gives you a hard landing? A. An Antonov AN124 landing on it's nosegear! Great Photo!
Yeah hoping the pilots are spared in the company briefing room after this landing Cheif pilot might have something to say. Great shot all the same
Hang on, the left-hand nose gear isn't even compressed fully, the right bogie is only a bit smokey, the spoilers are just about to deploy so it's not bouncing.
I guess here is the same plane but a few seconds earlier and everything is going just fine: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/955372/L/ I'd say it's some kind of wind shear. BTW, amazing shot! ;)
Just schweet | |
It's not everyday you see something like this! Excellent shot.
Once in a lifetime shot. Congratulations
In My Opinion he touched before, and this pic was taken on its second touch after it bounced, hence the fact the elevator its in full nose down attitude, and the crew were becoming aware the runway was geeting shorter..!!!..Well, it's only an Opinion:-)Awesome Pic Luc!
That's really odd | |
I think that pilots told them selves will we ever get this bird down and will it ever stop.
Incredible landing: look the elevator! The pilot pushed the the plane down!
Incredible! I've never seen anything like this! I wonder if it had anything to do with the cargo weight...
This really can't be good for teh nose gear!
I have rated this shot well because it reveals to us what we usually do not see with these aircraft. Wonderful! (I hope the pilots do not get into trouble though...)
Hey guys.. i think the pilot wanted to make a reflare !! Nice shot
The pilot is just showing his skill in landing the elephant of the sky!!!!!!
Landing for the whole muzzle.Very good .Great picture, thank you to allow us to see it.
From Spain. Is a very, very big "Pinnocho".
I think pilot wanted to try a new kind of landing ... :d btw nice shot !!!
The aircraft was either too high or facing strong wind, plus higher speed, thus leading this nose dive onto the runway.
(yawn) What`s so special, guys? We were just checking the tire pressure ;)
First thing that came to mind is that he stalled it during flare.
I do this all the time on my flight simulator! ;-)
One word: SCARY!! | |
Once in a lifetime shot!!!, not seen everyday!!!!!
Ouch~ You hit my nose~!!
Wowoo! Those landing gears are really strong! Great photo, click in the right second.
Interesting shot, that's why the Antonov has 2 Nosegears ;-)
I guess its allowable to do that if you have four wheels in front. Otherwise... :-/
OMG! - was my first thought. Amazing shot, there's only little chance to capture this mishap on photo. Looks like badly balanced freight if you ask me. Never the less the nose gear will survive because there's still enough lift by the wings as you clearly can see.
Well as far as i'm concerned pilots were sleeping and they landed on the nose wheel but they are lucky that the landing gears are not collapsed.
...never seen before... congratulations for this rare picture!!!
It looks like these tough birds can withstand everything!
It's a good thing the AN-124 has double nose gear! Incredible shot!
Nice and hard-to-find picture...excellent opportunity Mr. Van Belleghem had.
Poor poor nose gear | |
Wow! Already second "dancing" An-124 in two days! ;)
