Russian way of landing nose first

With that storm in the background I'd say the pilot wanted to get on the ground as quickly as possible.

Ive seen Cessna's & Piper's do wheelbarrow landings, never thought I'd see it from an Antonov :P

Interesting way to stress-test a nose gear. Nice combination of lighting, contrast, weather, and pucker factor.

Very interesting Shot. I donĀ“t think this the first ground contact however- the elevator seems to pushed to "nose down". When I learned to fly I was told to pull the stick back after landing!! Perhaps the Antonov just has very good brakes?? :-)

I really like the look of the modified Condors. Those large PS-90A engines are much better looking than narrow D-18T they used before. I also heard they reduced the risk of engine surging.

WOW! What a ride that must have been. Think of the energy being displaced through the landing gear. Great shot and thanks!

To user below - you're quite and absolutely wrong: An-124s never used PS-90 engines. All Ruslans (and this one on the shot for sure!) are equipped with D-18T - the most powerful among the Soviet turbofan engines ever made. As for the "narrow" D-18T you've made a mistake again, read carefully and don't confuse An-124 with Il-76 and D-18T with much smaller PS-90 and D-30.

By the way - the photo depicts quite great and dramatic moment!

"Nose landings" are quite a normal procedure for many Antonov's aircraft. AN-12 used to do it all the time. It's a geat shot - but I don't see anything dramatic here.

Oops, I guess I mixed up the two engines. Of course, it's D-18T. This one actually has a "3 series".
