Surprised to see a Y-20 here on A.net... It's a nice aircraft with typical military transporter design which I think is not a copy of the existing design of C-17 or Il-76 since the computer optimization design always results in similar shape and configuration... You can see what a Japanese XC-2 looks like, I think it's a twin-engined C-17 too.

Looks like a mix of Il-76, C-17 and An-70. Engines are exact like D-30KP from Il-76, wing also seems similar. Fuselage and tail - C-17. Nose section looks like An-70. Antonov cooperates with Chinese, so, maybe, designers of An took a port on this craft.

Looks remarkably like the original BAe146M which was proposed when the a/c was relaunched in 1978. Well before C-17, Il76 etc.

But a nose section of the fuselage looks like the same part of the Antonov-70 :)

Great catch of a somewhat familiar design. You can only make a plane fly if it sort of looks the same as others and at least this isn't your typical Blatant Chinese copy. They did almost perfectly copy the tail assembly and the engines look almost like P&W JT3D once seen in the early '60's on DC-8-63 or the crusty Russian copies on the IL-76. However the Chinese seem to have designed their own layout for the main gear at the C-17 uses a weirder looking layout and the nose on this Chinese model looks less A380-ish then seen on the C-17. Also for now those C-17 winglets are nowhere to be seen and I state "for now". I have to say from this angle captured it really looks like the Chinese ripped off their favourite neighbour to fight with, the Japanese Kawasaki XC-2 which uses more powerful twin engine configuration but WOW look at the main gear layout, wings, tail and fuselage shape.

It's a great thing to China to make Chinese version of C-17. Why design your own plane when you can steal the design from someone else? ;)

That is so cool! Looks like a baby C-17.

What a great looking C-17 photocopy!

Every thing looks good and modern but the engines... Long way to go!

Beautiful bird. It looks like an IL-76/C-17 hybrid.

Am I the only one who sees the many similarities with the c-17 Globemaster?

It's a great shot for sure but c'mon... Exactly who flew a US C-17 thru the copy machine at the local Kinko's??

The this new model design well proves that whatever the place, the computers result is always the same. A pretty nice add to the fleet by the way !

Cough... C141. Cough... Il-76. Glad to see the Chinese have finally learned the words "copyright infringement".

Nice Spy's from China got their hands on blue prints of the C-17 and AM-400 but had tough time with Western engines so the borrowed some from Russia.

Great Russian IL-76 + great american C-17 = chinese Y-20 =/
