Despite the dismal weather almost the full length of the magnificent Kansai terminal, designed by Renzo Piano, can be seen. The 1.7 kilometer (1 mile) long terminal building features a roof that forms a continuous arc from end to end, with the piers very low at the outer limits whilst quite high in the centre where the undulating roof of the check-in hall can also been seen. In front of the terminal are two JAL DC-10s, a China Eastern A300, a JAL 767, a JAL MD-80 in the new colours, three ANA 767s, a Korean Air A330, a United 777 and nearest an Austrian Airlines A330
