This Halifax flew only one mission - she dropped her four mines as intended, but her starboard engine was shot and she was forced to land wheels-up on the frozen ice of Lake Hoklingen in Norway. The crew escaped but the aircraft caught fire, melting the ice, and sank to the bottom of the lake. She would remain there for 31 years until recovered by the RAF on 30-Jun-1973. The RAF had scrapped all Halifaxes, and now only two survive - both recovered from Norwegian lakes. Many sources report this to be cn 8465M, but that's actually the RAF maintenance serial that was allocated to it.
