This Hastings was one of 8 C.1s converted to T.5s for the Bomber Command Bombing School at RAF Lindholme, Yorkshire. The School was absorbed by 230 (Vulcan) OCU & became the Radar Training Flight (known as ‘1066 Sqn’ with reference to the Battle of Hastings) at Scampton in 1972, from whence TG553 made its last flight to RAF Fairford (then the BAC Concorde flight test centre) in April 1974, where it was consigned to the fire dump and languished for several years.
