No.46 Squadron RAF. This Fighter interceptor is currently being restored at the Malta Aviation Museum (Ta’ Qali). Hawker Aircraft built the plane in 1941 in the 5th production batch with a Merlin XX engine. The aircraft was shipped to Malta but shortly afterwards crashed into the sea off the island (Zurrieq) on 4 July 1941, when piloted by Sgt. Thomas Hackston. The wreckage was raised from the seabed on 19 September 1995 for reconstruction by the Malta Historic Aircraft Preservation Group.
