A rather unusual aircraft parked at HNL. This Indonesian-registered float plane looks quite awkward sitting on the tarmac. This aircraft belongs to the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), an organization that does relief work around the world. PK-MAO is to join three other aircraft in Sumatra, Indonesia to help out after the tragic tsunami/earthquakes last December.

Very good to see this plane on ANET! -MAO was the first plane I got my hands on the yoke. MAO is the only floatplane in Irian Jaya now, and my family uses this plane all the time to get to our village.

Whether planes are being delivered to their new homes or ferried off to the desert for storage, the Aloha State has been an important stopover for aircraft for many years.
