You must be thinking of aircraft 662 that was scrapped in place. 662 had a liquid oxygen fed fire and was unfliable. It sat in the weeds for months or years as part of the SALT treaty verification process so Soviet spy satellites could see that it was in fact derelict. Then they brought in a crew that used a giant guillotine to chop off it's wings as it sat there in the grass. I was stung by a hornet while canibalizing parts off of it.
