The F-4G design was a conversion of existing F-4E Phantom aircraft, to create the so-called 'Advanced Wild Weasel' variant. In this role these special Phantoms would lure enemy radar stations or SAM sites into emitting a radar lock, thereby locating the enemy, then destroy the site before being downed by incoming missiles. Many of these F-4Gs were deployed to enforce the no-fly zone around Iraq as late as 1996. This example served with the 124th Wing of the Air National Guard at Boise, Idaho.
