By late 1989 the number of F-4 Phantoms in AMARC had risen steeply as they had been replaced in front-line and reserve service by more modern types. This former USMC F-4S Bu.No 155792 is a good example of the type; her lo-vis colour scheme is fading in the strong Arizona sun to the extent that her markings are almost unrecognisable. She did fly with VMFA-451 based at MCAS Beaufort as "VM-09" late in her career but this is not clear in the photograph. There is a large storage bag waiting on her spine.
