To the average aviation enthusiast, going whale watching on the Pacific coast of the USA had a completely different meaning to what most people would imagine - the mighty Skywarrior, the heaviest aircraft to regularly land on carriers, was known as the "Whale" to its friends. VAQ-34 were the last operator of the Whale, using them in an electronic warfare role based out of Point Mugu when they weren't embarked. Note the different rear fuselage and tail configurations of the various Skywarrior versions
