The original Trojan was designed to be a replacement for the T-6 Texan trainer. With the adoption of tricycle landing gear and big radial engine, the T-28 proved an excellent stepping-stone for future jet pilots. The Navy specification brought a 3-bladed prop, increased horsepower and lengthened fuselage - known as the C version seen here. Note the landing hook for carrier landings.
