9H-AEH (cn 2122) The little Airbus, seen ahead of the mighty 744s of BA, (G-BNLI and G-BNLM), heads in a completely different direction to that of the runway! As can be seen by the other aircraft there's an obvious sidewind component today to deal with. The Air Malta has left behind an enormous wake as can be seen in the cloud behind it. Spectacular effect to capture and witness. |

WH876 (cn SH.1633) I always enjoyed airshow static displays on summer evenings after most people had gone and you could get unimpeded pictures in the setting sunlight. This was part of the static park at Greenham Common IAT 83. WH876 had been with the Royal Navy as a radio-controlled target drone before transfer to the Bomber Maritime Test Sqn at Boscombe Down. It was converted in the mid-70s to facilitate ejection seat tests, in which role it is seen here. |

X**** This picture was scanned from a slide I took in the summer of 1975. Living 20 miles west of Brize Norton in the early 'seventies the 10 Sqn VC10s were a common sight, and on several occasions I saw one in the circuit with one main gear retracted (whether deliberately or inadvertently I never discovered). I managed to photograph this one from home apparently dumping fuel at fairly high altitude; it was heading south-south-east at the time between Hatherop and Fairford. |
