While a Dash8 normally does not attract much attention at an international airport, this aircraft is a real heavy movement for Samedan. As the acft made its way through the valley towards the airport many of the people who passed by or did some cross-country skiing at the nearby slopes stopped to see this big regional turboprop land on rwy 03. In this close-up you can even see the Captain focusing to end the visual approach with a smooth touch down. Taken with a Canon 1DmkIII at 400mm, f/13 and ISO 50 for 1/80th.

GUESS what is the shape of the islands in the lake? YES! That is Japan!! Indeed, we ARE flying over Japan. (Of course, the islands were artificially made.) Funny, isn't it? This aircraft continued to serve for Air Nippon until the end of 1995, and now preserved in Kakamigahara Aerospace Museum, Gifu, Japan in ANK color.

Ship 6809 is now taxiing out in a beautiful winter sunlight with her sister ships being washed out by the heat exhaust. Since the snow storm has brought us a pile of snow, the aircrafts are definitely needed of a deicing before departure. This photograph goes to Captain Thomas Gabbett and true aviators for Kitty Hawk who gave me the opportunity to make the article featuring cargo operation to the Japanese Aviation Magazine. This is my favorite angle of one of the greatest jetliner ever built.

The B738 performing flight AB-2450 from Dortmund (Germany) to Las Palmas,CI (Spain) with 165 passengers, rejected takeoff from Dortmund's runway 06 (length 2000 meters/6600 feet) in snowfall and came to a stop on soft ground at 07:05L (06:05Z). No injuries occured, the passengers disembarked via stairs. Air Berlin said, that the airplane came to a stop on a downslope making it appear like a collapsed nose gear, the airplane however did not receive any substantial damage.
