USA - Air Force
Fairchild UC-123K Provider
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, September 1984
Remark
Photographer
55-4571 (cn 20232) Quite a crowd is gathering at the back of this old transport for a walk-through tour. Some may realize the significance of this beast with its underwing spray rig as virtually the same as Ranch Hand Providers that delivered the Agent Orange chemical defoliant in Vietnam. One of four in service, it still wears an immaculate Vietnam-style camouflage (T.O. 1-1-4)- the one I photographed at Dobbins several months later was in Aircraft Gray. 357th TAS, Aerial Spray Branch. Serial no. corrected by John Chapman.

USA - Air Force
Fairchild UC-123K Provider
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, June 1985
Remark
Photographer
54-0585 (cn 20034) Another attendee of the 1985 Dobbins air show was something of a celebrity in this Provider with the underwing spray bars- the same configuration used by Ranch Hand Providers during the Vietnam War to deliver the notorious Agent Orange defoliant... Fortunately a long way removed from that, this classic "old iron" humbly poses for the air show crowd; it is one of four left in service with the 356th Tactical Airlift Sqn., 907th TAGrp., Aerial Spray Branch, Air Force Reserve, Rickenbacker AFB, OH.

USA - Air Force
Fairchild UC-123K Provider
Dayton - Wright-Patterson AFB (Wright AFB) (DWF) (closed)
USA - Ohio, April 16, 2014
Remark
Photographer
56-4362 (cn 20246) "National Museum of the US Air Force" UC-123K's like the one displayed here were mainly used for "Ranch Hand" missions. Those missions, which lasted from 1962-71, had as main objective to destroy forests in the Vietnam War theater to deprive the Viet Cong of food and natural shelter. However "Agent Orange", which was used for that purpose, not only destroyed the forests but also killed or maimed nearly 400,000 people in the affected areas and resulted in 500,000 children being born with birth defects.
