USA - Navy
North American FJ-1 Fury
Chino (CNO)
USA - California, July 26, 2013
Remark
Photographer
120349 / S-102 (cn 141-38401) Now beautifully restored and looking absolutely immaculate on display at the super Yanks Air Museum. This particular Fury was TOC during Nov. 1947 and served until Oct 1953 during which time she broke the record for the fastest flight between Seattle and Los Angeles (1205 miles, 1 h 58 m 7 s) in Feb. 1948. Incidentally as a bit of triva, the FJ-1 was the last Navy aircraft to use machine guns.

Pensacola - NAS / Forrest Sherman Field (NPA / KNPA)
USA - Florida, August 4, 1975
Remark
Photographer
120351 / S-104 (cn 141-38403) The FJ-1 Fury was the first jet fighter to go to sea operationally. 33 were built and the type served with US Navy VF-51 Squadron aboard the USS Boxer from 1948. This example has been repainted in the midnite blue colours of its period and is now displayed indoors at the Pensacola museum.

USA - Navy
North American FJ-2 Fury
Pensacola - NAS / Forrest Sherman Field (NPA / KNPA)
USA - Florida, June 2, 2013
Remark
Photographer
132023 / 755 (cn 181-97) The FJ-2 Fury was developed as a swept-wing, carrier capable fighter from the F-86 Sabre (the similarities are evident). Of 200 built very few are extant and this one is displayed at the National Naval Aviation Museum in the markings of an aircraft assigned to the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, although, in reality she was based for her entire service life in California and Hawaii.
