Spad XIII
Off-Airport - Washington
USA - District of Columbia, October 16, 2005
Remark
Photographer
S7689 / 20 (cn 7689) Built in France by the Kellner et SesFils Piano Works. On 15-Sep-1918 she was assigned to the 22nd Aero Pursuit Squadron of the US Army Air Service, which was taking part in the Saint-Mihiel offensive. By the end of the World War One a total of six vistories were scored with her by various pilots. American ace Arthur Raymond "Ray" Brooks named her 'Smith IV'. The name referred to the college his fiancée attended and the fact that it was the fourth Spad he had flown. Acquired by the Smithsonian in 1919.
