G-BFZL (cn 435) At the holding point for runway 27L. It was originally built for Trans Australian Airlines as VH-TVR and was first flown on 24th August 1959. It ended it's days with Trans IntAir as 9Q-CGL and was written-off after attempting a three engine take-off from a gravel strip in the Democratic Republic of Congo on 15th April 2003. A second engine failed and the aircraft crashed into trees.

Central African was renamed as Air Rhodesia in Jan. 1968, and re-branded again as Air Zimbabwe in Feb. 1980. Re-reg. as Z-YNB in Oct. 1983. WFU and std. for ground training at Harare Airport in Dec. 1990. This was a pretty hard shot, risking years from my life in prison – according to the warning signs, were clearly visible on the fence. Scanned from an old slide.
