HZ-HMS2 (cn 204) The only A340-8000 in the World, landing on runway 23 at LSGG. The Airbus A340-8000 is the unique of that type of "Extended Range" A342. Now called A340-213X, she was ordered by the Sultan of Brunei but never delivered. After 10 years of storage this 8000nm range and 275 tons MTOW aircraft is now owned by the Government of Saudi Arabia, as HZ-HMS2. |

HZ-HMS2 (cn 204) Local spotters were out in force for the rare opportunity to catch this beauty in action. Built in 1997 for the Sultanate of Brunei, but not delivered, it spent ten years in storage before being purchased by the Saudi's in 2007. It was painted in Saudi Arabian Airline colors, but outfitted like a royal palace on the inside. It was flown to Cleveland from Washington DC/Dulles to avoid the wrath of Hurricane Irene. |
