N707JT (cn 18740/388) Quiet and parked (on cold and overcast mid-day) at old International apron, beside the old terminal. Very nice plane and no "Grease" visible. Owner spending about 24 hrs on the island. After sticking around for a few hours - I abandoned playing Papparazzi - I already had got my "star" of the year! |

The aircraft, in original livery and named 'City of Canberra', is on Final Approach to Canberra's Rwy 17. (Qantas' First Boeing 747 was also Registered VH-EBA.) The crew was practising 'Touch and Go' landings in preparation for the 707's final 'short field' landing at the Qantas Founders Outback Museum at Longreach, Queensland. N707JT (cn 18740/388) "Jett Clipper Ella" landing at BQN from South Africa. Will be clearing customs and re-fueling to continue later on it's flight back home. The old hangar and ATC tower remind us the days that BQN was a Military Base for the USAF SAC missions and also goes very well with this classic Boeing jetliner. |

N707JT (cn 18740/388) [13:40] Creative shot of John Travolta’s immaculate "Jett Clipper Ella", painted in old Qantas colours (he is an ambassador for the airline). He arrived from Greystone (17FL) airport in Florida to visit Shamwari Game Reserve which is a short drive away from PE. Thanks to Nicholas and Andrew, who were working in the Control Tower at the time. The wind was gusting around 55 knots the whole day which made for some interesting landings. N707JT (cn 18740/388) [11:37] This Pratt and Whitney JT3D-3&3B engine sure doesn't look 45 years old as it is in kept in immaculate condition. This aircraft has three engines like this one with the fourth one not having a turbocompressor which is used for air conditioning, all 707's built were like this. This aircraft in painted in the V-Jet livery which it was originally painted in back in 1964 when it first flew for Qantas. This aircraft originally seated 192 passengers [Canon 400D + 100-300mm @ 185mm] |

N707JT (cn 18740/388) Is it 1964 or 2008? Either way, this 707 looks the same. Shown here just after sunset at the very end of a long day, waiting for Mr. Travolta to show up so they can head back home to Florida. |
