N6819 / 819 (cn 19494/661) This shot shows the beginning of the end of spotting on this spot. A new fence forced us to use high stairs to shoot the taxiing planes to rwy02. Later a 2nd fence was placed and it was game over. |

N6806 / 806 (cn 19481/548) Years of engineering and thousands of hours of tedious work to build this aircraft - and it all comes to an end in about 90 minutes with a skilled scrapper. Ship 806's tail lies mangled, showing the bright green Zinc Chromate panels that haven't seen the light of day since 1967. All the metal is cut up, sorted and recycled. [Canon 20D] |

N6806 / 806 (cn 19481/548) Built in 1968, converted to freighter 1996, and scrapped in 2006. It's amazing that this aircraft flew for 38 years, and now you see twelve year old Airbus's getting broken up. The Boeing 727 is a robust machine! Ship 806 is seen here during scrapping - which took about 4 hours to complete. All materials went to recycling. [Canon 20D] |
