58-0181 (cn 464249) All is quiet on the Dobbins line as early evening light descends in this scene from the Friday before the 1991 air show. The fleur de lys design on the tail of this BUFF was then the unit marking of the 2nd Bomb. Wing, Barksdale AFB, LA, and it models the dull Strategic Scheme (dark gray and dark green) in the waning light. Interestingly, it bears the name The Witch II in tribute to a WW II B-24D of the 98th Bomb. Group that participated in the disastrous Aug. 1943 Ploesti mission. |
