G-AZML (cn 38) The observation deck at Don Muang was brilliant in the '70s. This was a 50mm lens (so no excuse for the quality....) |

N122AE (cn 18) Not too often you'll find a pic of two Swing-Tails swung! N122AE was the former N449T and G-AXAA bought by AEI 9.81. N121AE (c/n 38) was N1002T and G-AZML bought 10.80. Both scrapped Greensboro NC, 9.99 |

G-AZML (cn 38) Inches from touchdown on Stansted's 23, a rare shot of 'ML with TMAC's short-lived red/black cheatline. Originally N1002T with Flying Tiger Line (1.65) and bought by TMAC 12.71; N121AE with AEI 10.80 and scrapped at Greensboro, NC in 9.99 after various sales and storage |

G-ATZI (cn 25) TMAC acquired Flying Tiger's N455T as G-ATZI in April 1970 and leased her to BAF in May 1972. Little known in these colours, she was bought by Transvalair as HB-IEN in March 1974 and operated in their smart green/red livery till sold to UAA as 5A-DHJ in Feb 1981. Then to N3951C, N103BB, EL-WLL, TN-AFP and finally 9Q-CTS, crashing at Mbuji Mayi, Congo on 17.2.02 |

G-ATZH (cn 21) These bizarre "RAF Air Support Command" marks were applied for a film while 'ZH was in a derelict state at STN. Quite who would have been fooled by the huge roundel on the tail is hard to see; note the serial 'XV196' borrowed from a Herk (which incidentally is still active). Formerly Flying Tigers' N452T, she was bought by TMAC 29.1.72 and known by them as 'Hangar Queen' - a name that should have been heeded as after returning to service she crashed in the sea just after t/o from Kai Tak on 2.9.77 |

G-AXAA (cn 18) A later shot of G-AXAA than I uploaded recently as part of a fog diversion group at Southend. Here with additional IAS sticker on a crisp winter morning at her Stansted base, she was Flying Tiger's N449T being ferried JFK - SEN for TMAC on 13.1.69. Went to AEI as N122AE in 9.81, into storage at Greensboro, NC, in 1989 and broken up for scrap 1999 |

G-AXAA (cn 18) What a scene. Fog diversions brought this unlikely collection together : CL-44, four BCAL 1-11s, three BIA & a couple of BAF Heralds, Air Anglia F27, BAT DC-4, BAF Carvair taking off and the Pauling one in the distance with ex Air Siam DC-4...not much room left! |
