The Altimeter was reading 6900 ft, and we were flying over a valley! (Australia's tallest Mountain, Mt Kosciuszko is 7310 ft high.) A17-020 (cn 44520/CA32-20) This CAC-built Kiowa woks past an unloading Galaxy to commence an air-test after re-assembly. This helo is currently with 162 Reconnaissance Squadron and was one of four flown in from Townsville in an RAAF C-17 for the Australian International Airshow. It was delivered in 1973 and used for Kiowa camouflage trials by 171 Command and Liason Squadron during 1979-80, painted in a dark matt olive drab scheme. It's currently in the standard Army aircraft scheme, which was adjudged the most effective. |
