VH-PBZ / A24-362/OX-V (cn 2043) Avalon International Air Show 2013 - Always delightful to see this Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) PBY Catalina flying, though I'm still not convinced on the paint scheme. This aircraft type has to be one of my favourite seaplanes. |

L-866 (cn 2064) Originally designed to meet a pre-war US Navy requirement for a maritime patrol aircraft, the prototype PBY 1 first flew on 21 Mar 1935. Subsequently, the PBY series of flying boats and amphibians were built in greater numbers than any other aircraft of their type and used by Air Forces and civilian operators around the world, with some still in use today. The PBY 6A, seen here was the last evolution of the Cat. On display in the War Planes hangar at RAF Museum, Cosford (Canon 50D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM) |

VH-PBZ / A24-362/OX-V (cn 2043) At the end of the RAAF 90th Anniversary Air Pilgrimage, the HARS Cat departed for home, only to return shortly afterwards with a major oil leak. This provoked considerable head-scratching and several phone calls as the engineers tried to solve the problem. |
