Australia - Queensland, July 4, 2009
Remark
Photographer
VH-MIK / BU-B (cn 28759) Mike Spaulding's brand new Warhawk/Kittyhawk was a star attraction at the Wide Bay International Airshow. Built for the USAAF as 42-104977, this aircraft served with the 49FG, named 'Punkins'. On 13 September 1943 it was shot down by a Zero at Tsili Tsili, near Finschafen, New Guinea. The wreck was recovered in 2004 and rebuilt at Wangaratta and Mareeba.

NL10626 / 730 (cn 32932) "Museum of Flight" The P-40 was not the fastest fighter and nobody ever claimed it was the best. But it had one priceless advantage over all the others -- it was available when needed most. And it's one of the best-looking as well. :-) [Nikon D700 / AF-S Nikkor 18-200mm]
