ZK-VWC / FR350/HS-B (cn 28589) The giant tail of the C-17 looms high above the P-40 as it is loaded on for the long journey home. Many thanks to Pioneer Aero Restorations and the crew for the opportunity to witness this historic occasion. |

ZK-VWC (cn 28589) This Kittyhawk is seen being loaded into a C-17 for the long trip home to Canada and it was great to spend some time with this aircraft in NZ. |

VH-MIK / BU-B (cn 28759) Mike Spaulding's brand new Warhawk/Kittyhawk was a star attraction at the Wide Bay International Airshow. Built for the USAAF as 42-104977, this aircraft served with the 49FG, named 'Punkins'. On 13 September 1943 it was shot down by a Zero at Tsili Tsili, near Finschafen, New Guinea. The wreck was recovered in 2004 and rebuilt at Wangaratta and Mareeba. |

NL10626 / 730 (cn 32932) "Museum of Flight" The P-40 was not the fastest fighter and nobody ever claimed it was the best. But it had one priceless advantage over all the others -- it was available when needed most. And it's one of the best-looking as well. :-) [Nikon D700 / AF-S Nikkor 18-200mm] |

F-AZKU / 2105915 (cn 29677) This P-40 served with the US Fifth Air Force in the Pacific theatre and was eventually abandoned at Tadji, New Guinea. It was recovered to the RAAF Museum in the 1970s. Restored to flying condition in Australia, it was sold to the Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis last year |

ZK-VWC / FR350/HS-B (cn 28589) This photo was taken during the first Air 2 Air flight following restoration. It has headed home to Canada and it was nice to have the aircraft here for just a while and thanks to VWOC and Pioneer Aero for putting the aircraft back into the sky where it belongs and Stocky must be very happy indeed. |
