Kenn Borek Air
De Havilland Canada DHC-4A Caribou
Calgary - International (YYC / CYYC)
Canada - Alberta, March 1987
Remark
Photographer
C-GVYX (cn 292) A Caribou that never saw military service is a rarity. Delivered to Guyana Airways as 8R-GDR on June 22, 1970, this one came back to Canada as C-GVYX for Proair in June 1979. It was later operated by Air Inuit, Wardair (as Max Ward's personal aircraft) and Kenn Borek Air. Photographed here still wearing Wardair's northern color scheme, the airplane was written off November 10, 1987 near Ross River, Yukon.

De Havilland Canada YC-7A Caribou (AC-1/CV-2A/DHC-4A)
Orlando - Kissimmee Gateway (Municipal) (ISM)
USA - Florida, November 1981
Remark
Photographer
57-3083 (cn 8) BUZZ JOB!!! The Golden Knights (US Army parachute demonstration team) have performed their jump and are safely on the ground; now their support aircraft takes center stage with a low pass in front of the crowd! The Golden Knights' Caribou is finished in typical Army special duty aircraft colors (of the time) of Gloss Dark Olive Drab and Insignia White. Photographed at the 1981 Central Florida Air Fair, Kissimmee, FL.

USA - Army
De Havilland Canada YC-7A Caribou (AC-1/CV-2A/DHC-4A)
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, June 1985
Remark
Photographer
57-3082 (cn 7) A later support plane for the Army Parachute Team "Golden Knights" is shown demonstrating a short field landing at the 1985 Dobbins AFB air show. During the war in Vietnam, though the C-130 was considered the most versatile transport, the Caribou (and also the C-123 Provider) was very useful in operating from "airstrips" (often nothing more than wide paths carved out of the vegetation) that were too short for the Herk. This one has more color than the earlier one, and the directional smoke is still on!
