Operated by the HQ Home Command Communications Squadron, White Waltham, where it was used during pilot training by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh until Feb-1953. Eventually transferred through various university air squadrons until retirement in 1976. Initially displayed at RAF Museum Hendon in Feb-1977, then preserved here at RAF Museum Cosford since May-1977. |

WK635 (cn C1/0650) Chipmunks were used extensively by the Royal Navy for elementary training. This one is seen here in the Heron Flight hangar on a stormy day in January 1986. It was delivered to the RAF in 1952 & transferred from RAF Bomber Command, Waddington, to the Navy in 1971. It was sold off in 1994 & is currently in storage in the USA registered N546PU.
