ZS-BMH (cn 43157) About a week and a half before our departure to South Africa, we found out that Skyclass would operate their DC-4 from O.R. Tambo to the airshow Swartkop AFB. About 1,5h after finding out, our seats were booked and we ended up being able to reserve seats 1A and 2A, which was right where we hoped to be. As we approached the airfield, we made a low pass before circling to land. This photo was taken from seat 2A, during that low pass. Outside you can see the flightline and a lot of early visitors. |

ZS-BMH (cn 43157) We arrived back at the aircraft well before our pre-agreed meeting time. It was cloudy during most of the airshow displays, but in the end of the afternoon, the sun finally showed its face. I think we walked around the aircraft freely for about 30-45 minutes, before we needed to get onboad for the flight back to O.R. Tambo. Everyone took as many photos as they possibly could and it was a great ending to the day. And who would've imagined meeting another A.netter on this flight! But then again... |

44-9030 (cn 27256) In 2011 this C-54 was restored in its WWII Pacific Theater markings, which it still carried during Berlin Airlift service, by then the one of 38 'M' models converted for coal hauling. From 1973 was used for sky marshall training but joined the AMC Museum in 1989 |
